A New AMD Ryzen 9 CPU Emerges on Medusa Point “Plum” Platform

A newly discovered AMD Ryzen 9 CPU has been tested on the upcoming Medusa Point “Plum” platform, according to recent Geekbench leaks. This latest discovery raises exciting possibilities for the next generation of AMD chips.

Unveiling the Plum “FP10” Evaluation Platform

Last year, AMD introduced the Plum “FP10” evaluation platform, tailored for the next-gen Medusa Point APUs. Earlier reports highlighted that this platform would utilize 45W SoCs, hinting at a powerful yet energy-efficient computing experience. The latest leaks suggest that AMD is actively developing innovative technologies within this framework.

Mysterious AMD Ryzen 9 CPU Specifications

In a recent Geekbench listing, a new AMD Ryzen entry was identified with the ID “100-000001713-31_N.” This CPU boasts 10 cores and 20 threads, featuring a base frequency of 2.40 GHz. However, due to its engineering sample status, it operated at around 2 GHz in testing. Notably, the chip does not adhere to the conventional cluster configurations, implying that it may still be in the developmental stages.

    Impressive Cache Configuration

The configuration for this Ryzen 9 processor is particularly noteworthy. Each of its 10 cores appears to have 1 MB of dedicated L2 cache, coupled with a substantial 32 MB L3 cache. For context, the Ryzen AI 9 365 offers a comparable design but with only 24 MB of L3 cache. This chipset therefore delivers 50% more cache than Strix/Goron processors, providing an advantage in performance.

    Geekbench Performance Metrics

According to the Geekbench log, the unusual AMD Ryzen 9 chip was running a balanced profile, supported by 32 GB of memory. Although the specific memory type is not disclosed, the overall performance is compelling. The listings reveal a single-core score of 1210 and a multi-core score of 7323, indicating a strong showing for this early sample.

Potential Insights on Medusa Point Architecture

While speculation surrounds the identity of this chip, it’s essential to note that the Medusa Point platform is engineered for FP10 Medusa Point chips. More identifiers have surfaced, hinting at additional models in development. Insights from the Planet3DNow forum reveal potential variations of the Medusa Point architecture, contributing to the excitement within the tech community.

Future Expectations: Medusa Point APU Launch

The upcoming Medusa Point APU series is projected to integrate the latest Zen 6 cores, along with a hybrid of RDNA 5 and RDNA 3.5 integrated GPU cores. The launch of these innovative chips is tipped to occur at CES 2026, allowing enthusiasts to anticipate cutting-edge performance enhancements.

    Conclusion: AMD’s Path Forward

As AMD continues to innovate with its Ryzen CPU and APU roadmap, the findings related to the Plum platform and the emerging Medusa Point CPUs provide a glimpse into a promising future for high-performance computing. With cutting-edge specifications and technology, AMD aims to maintain its competitive edge in the CPU landscape.
