Meet Rachel Mulligan, an acting manager with Praxis Care who is taking part in the Global Icon pageant. Her goal? To wow the judges with an inventive garment crafted from everyone’s favorite snack—Tayto crisps!
A Unique Competition Journey
Rachel’s pageant journey began with the Diamond system in the UK. After triumphing in a heat held in Ireland, she moved on to compete in the UK and eventually made her way to California as the first runner-up for Global Icon. This year, she has another chance in Las Vegas, where she aims to showcase a slice of County Armagh culture.
The Creative Vision
Rachel plans to create a stunning dress inspired by Mr. Tayto, incorporating the iconic red suit and a bold cape that resembles a crisp packet. Her ambition is to celebrate the local snack while promoting the spirit of her home.
Community Involvement Needed
To complete her vision, Rachel needs approximately 500 empty Tayto crisp packets. This is where the community comes in. She aims for authenticity and wants the finished product to be a true representation of her creative idea, rather than relying on printed images.

Creating this one-of-a-kind piece will take significant effort, as Rachel estimates she’ll need between 60,000 to 80,000 gemstones to embellish the dress. Time is of the essence, as she plans to finish the project by mid-July, ahead of her trip to Vegas on July 24.
