Former Miss Universe and Bollywood actress Lara Dutta Bhupathi is currently in Dubai, where she has reassured fans of her safety amidst rising tensions in the region due to recent Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iran.
Living in Dubai Amidst Regional Tensions
Lara Dutta Bhupathi, who has made Dubai her home for the past three years, shared her experiences through an Instagram video. Married to former doubles world No. 1 tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi, Lara described how the past few days have unfolded in her life.
Uneasy Days in the Emirate
Despite the uncertain atmosphere, Lara emphasized her decision to share her thoughts as a way to release some of the tension. “I don’t typically post about such issues,” she mentioned, highlighting the emotional strain felt during these turbulent days, especially with the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.
Startling Experiences in the City
On February 28, while filming at a studio, Lara and her crew heard loud explosions above them. “We ran out of the studio and witnessed missiles being intercepted in the sky,” she recounted. Although the situation was unsettling, she assured that she had never felt truly unsafe.
The Protective Measures of the UAE
Bhupathi praised the UAE government for its effective measures in ensuring the safety of residents. “I have felt incredibly looked after during this time,” she expressed. “Regardless of nationality, everyone here feels protected and valued.”
Resilience of Daily Life
Despite the circumstances, everyday life in Dubai has continued. Lara noted, “My gardener comes by each day, and delivery services are still operational. People can order food and essentials without any issues.” She expressed her admiration for those who continue to work and contribute to maintaining normalcy in the country.
Exploring Travel Options
Given the current situation, Lara and her family are considering traveling to Mumbai. “We are looking at flights to ease the children’s anxiety,” she said, acknowledging that while adults can manage stress better, it’s important to keep children comfortable and secure.
A Message of Hope
Reflecting on her past experiences during moments of heightened tension, she expressed hope for safety and de-escalation throughout the region. “No civilian should live in fear or be caught in a conflict that destabilizes their life,” she concluded. “I sincerely hope for common sense and compassion to guide the decisions made in these trying times.”
