Today marks the beginning of my journey as CEO of Microsoft Gaming. I am filled with a sense of humility and urgency. Humility for the extraordinary accomplishments this team has achieved over the decades, and urgency as we navigate through a rapidly evolving gaming landscape. It’s crucial for us to act with clarity and conviction during this transformative time.

As I step into this role, I carry the legacy created by generations of talented artists, engineers, designers, writers, and musicians. Together, they have crafted worlds of joy and meaning for countless players. The exceptional level of craftsmanship, amplified by Xbox, exemplifies the belief that games connect people and propel the industry forward.

I extend my gratitude to Phil for his exemplary leadership and to every studio and operations team that has laid the groundwork for us. We are custodians of some of the most beloved stories and characters in entertainment, bringing players and creators together in innovative and engaging ways. My main objective is simple: to understand and protect what makes this incredible work possible.

In alignment with this commitment, I have promoted Matt Booty, who truly understands the intricacies of building remarkable games.

We are recommitting to our core Xbox fans, who have supported us for 25 years, as well as to the developers who bring expansive universes to life. Our renewed focus on Xbox will celebrate the console’s legacy while ensuring it remains adaptable in a multi-device world. Xbox should offer a seamless experience across PC, mobile, and cloud platforms, breaking down barriers for developers to reach players everywhere without compromise.

3. The Future of Play

We stand at the brink of a reinvention in play. To navigate this new landscape, we will innovate business models and embrace the beloved teams, characters, and worlds we’ve created. Rather than treating these assets as static properties, we aim to empower developers and players to craft their own narratives on a shared platform.
