On January 24, 2026, the annual Miss University of Georgia Pageant concluded with the crowning of Sailor Ott, a biological sciences major from Toccoa, Georgia, as the winner. Competing against 18 other talented contestants, Ott not only claimed the prestigious crown but also secured a scholarship worth $1,250.
Runner-Up and Special Awards
Jackson Swann, who took home the title of runner-up, received a scholarship of $250 and a trophy for her outstanding performance. In addition to her runner-up position, Swann was honored with the Miss Congeniality Award and the Interview Award, recognizing her engaging personality and interview skills.
Pageant Structure and Scoring
The competition was divided into five key segments, each contributing to the overall score: a personal interview (30%), on-stage conversation (10%), talent showcase (20%), health and fitness presentation (20%), and evening attire exhibition (20%). This structured approach allowed contestants to display their diverse skills and attributes.
Parental Pride and Support
Ronda Sanders, parent of a contestant, expressed immense pride in her daughter’s participation, acknowledging the courage it takes to perform on stage. “It’s been very impressive … I told her there are so many other girls that don’t have the guts to be able to get up on that stage,” said Sanders. Her remarks resonated with the spirit of encouragement shared among families and friends at the event.
Community Service Initiatives
Each contestant presented their community service initiatives and aspirations for using the Miss UGA title to foster change. Their causes spanned important issues such as sexual violence, period health, healthcare, education, and agriculture, showcasing their commitment to impactful social work. This aspect of the pageant highlighted not only beauty but also advocacy.
Showcasing Talent and Fitness
Contestants thrilled the audience with various talent displays, including singing, dancing, ventriloquism, and comedy. They also showcased their dedication to health and fitness by participating in a fitness segment, sponsored by the American Heart Association, where they donned vibrant red athletic attire.
Looking Ahead
As Miss UGA, Sailor Ott will represent the University of Georgia in the upcoming Miss Georgia competition this June. Fellow pageant winner Samantha de Haan, Miss Southwest Georgia 2026, shared her own empowering experience within the Miss America organization, emphasizing the opportunities for community service and personal growth they offer.
The Miss University of Georgia Pageant proved to be a celebration of talent, dedication, and community engagement, marking an important event in the annual calendar for students and supporters alike.
