Project Overview
Covering an expansive 4 hectares next to Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay, this $1 billion project is expected to attract approximately two million visitors annually at full capacity, with around 50% expected to come from overseas. This influx of visitors highlights the potential of the new attraction to bolster Singapore’s tourism sector.
Innovative Wellness Facilities
Therme Group envisions a facility that integrates thermal pools, lush botanical landscapes, world-class art installations, and cutting-edge health technology, all within one comprehensive wellness environment. Catering to a diverse range of demographics, the attraction will be family-friendly, inclusive of seniors and working adults, featuring amenities like saunas, steam baths, and exhilarating water slides.
Architectural Collaboration
The development will be brought to life in partnership with the distinguished architecture firm DP Architects, alongside Therme Group’s own design team, Therme Arc. This collaboration aims to create a groundbreaking space that harmonizes wellness and nature, further enhancing Marina South’s appeal.
Therme Group’s First Asian Venture
This project marks Therme Group’s inaugural expansion into the Asian market, which currently features successful facilities in Bucharest and Erding, near Munich. Future developments are also underway in major cities including Manchester, Frankfurt, Toronto, and Dubai, demonstrating Therme Group’s ambitious global growth strategy.
Local Partnerships and Community Engagement
Mr. Mah Bow Tan, chairman of Therme Group Asia, emphasized the importance of collaborating with local organizations and enterprises. This initiative seeks to enrich the surrounding public spaces, ultimately transforming Marina Bay into a premiere destination that showcases Singapore’s leadership in holistic wellness.
Vision for Transformative Wellness Experiences
Ms. Jean Ng, the assistant chief executive of STB’s experience development group, articulates a vision for Singapore as an urban wellness haven, showcasing a facility that offers transformative experiences for both visitors and locals. By focusing on quality tourism, this new wellness attraction aims to enhance visitor interactions, extend stays, and increase spending while providing residents with exceptional wellness options.
A Milestone in Singapore’s Tourism Goals
This upcoming wellness attraction represents Singapore’s first dedicated facility of its kind, significantly contributing to the nation’s tourism objectives of achieving $47 billion to $50 billion in tourism receipts by 2040. As this project moves forward, it promises to redefine wellness tourism not just in Singapore, but as a model for other urban environments globally.
