Apex Legends Season 27: Amped Update Overview
Apex Legends Season 27, dubbed “Amped,” introduces significant movement enhancements and gameplay updates, marking one of the most extensive updates in the game’s history.
Olympus Reimagined
This season features a complete overhaul of Olympus, introducing four new Points of Interest (POIs): Somers University, Gravity Engine, Stabilizer, and Dockyard. These additions aim to enhance map flow and provide opportunities for vertical combat, creating a more engaging experience for players. Senior Level Designer Michael Shannon emphasizes that this revamped Olympus was designed to reward skilled play while addressing previous map issues for a more balanced gameplay experience.
Legend Adjustments
Key legends such as Valkyrie, Rampart, and Horizon have undergone crucial reworks. Valkyrie’s VTOL Jets now recharge three times faster, allowing for quicker aerial mobility, while Rampart’s Amped Cover evolves with gameplay, gaining health as she levels up. Horizon sees an increase in lift speed on her Gravity Lift, regaining her former aerial dominance. These changes not only aim to revitalise their playstyles but also enhance their effectiveness in combat scenarios.
Improved Game Dynamics
The new Mantle Boost mechanic allows players to move faster while climbing ledges, significantly improving mobility. Additionally, changes to Tridents introduce dedicated health pools and enhanced collision handling, offering players a more responsive driving experience during battles. This season places a strong emphasis on both movement and tactical gameplay, ensuring players can quickly adapt to changing battle conditions.
Combat and Loot Enhancements
The introduction of the Double Tap Hop-Up for the Alternator provides players with the ability to fire both barrels simultaneously, creating devastating close-range damage. Alongside this, loot distribution adjustments in Ranked play offer a more balanced experience, ensuring that players can find sufficient resources in drop zones. The overall aim is to reward players more fairly for both eliminations and placements, enhancing the competitive integrity of the game.
Anti-Cheat Measures
In ongoing efforts to combat cheating, a new detection model was deployed in October, successfully banning over 1,000 bot accounts in its initial weeks. The majority of these bans affected Windows PC and Switch players, and the introduction of this advanced technology aims to improve the overall competitive experience within the game. The dev team remains committed to maintaining a fair and competitive environment for all players.
Upcoming Events and Features
With the launch of Season 27, players can also look forward to the Supersonic Wildcard event, featuring the Mythic R-99 and new upgrades, as well as an exciting Amped Battle Pass loaded with exclusive rewards. Apex Legends continues to evolve, providing fresh experiences and refining its gameplay based on extensive community feedback. The season kicks off on November 4, promising thrilling new content for both new and veteran players alike.
