Tompolo Disowns False Report Linking Him to Nnamdi Kanu’s Detention
The esteemed leader of the Ibe-Ebidouwei of the Ijaw nation and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has publicly distanced himself from a social media report that falsely attributes to him a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government regarding the ongoing detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Official Statement Released
This clarification was released through an official statement signed by Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo’s Media Consultant. Copies of this statement were made available to various journalists in Warri on Sunday.
Tompolo’s Denial of Involvement
The statement firmly emphasized, “Tompolo did not author the said publication.” It further articulated that “High Chief Ekpemupolo has nothing to do with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu.”
Allegations of Malicious Intent
The statement accused unnamed individuals of orchestrating the false narrative. It described this as “the handiwork of Tompolo’s enemies, who aim to discredit and undermine his efforts against illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta region.”
Commitment to the Fight Against Illegal Oil Activities
It further reassured the public that Tompolo remains steadfast in his mission to eradicate illegal oil operations in the region, stating, “This set of people has failed and will continue to fail because he will not relent in carrying out his duty.”
Support for the Federal Government
The statement also conveyed Tompolo’s unwavering support for the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “We wish to reassure the Federal Government that Tompolo is with him and will continue to support the renewed agenda of his government,” it read.
Future Endorsement and Focus
Tompolo is reaffirming his endorsement for President Tinubu’s second term, continuing efforts to make this a reality. The public and the Federal Government are urged to disregard the false publication.
Background on Nnamdi Kanu’s Legal Battle
In related news, notable publisher and activist Omoyele Sowore recently led a protest in Abuja advocating for the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu. On October 27, the Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned Kanu’s trial, allowing him to prepare his defense against the terrorism charges faced.
Justice James Omotosho set the new hearing date after Kanu reported that his previous legal team had not provided him with his case file.
