Becks Morgan Prepares for Miss Great Britain 2023
Becks Morgan, the reigning Miss Scarborough, is gearing up for the Miss Great Britain Final with a special outfit sourced from a local charity shop.
Promoting the Yorkshire Coast
Born in Scarborough and currently residing in Whitby, Becks is excited to use this prestigious platform to promote the beauty of the Yorkshire Coast. Her campaign also highlights the importance of women in education, aiming to inspire future generations.
The Legacy of Miss Great Britain
Established in 1945, Miss Great Britain is recognized as the UK’s oldest and most prestigious beauty pageant. Unlike traditional contests, it seeks candidates who embody strength, intelligence, ambition, and integrity. Becks, a recent Oxford University graduate with a degree in history, is among the finalists who exemplify these qualities.
Representing Home on a National Stage
“Miss Great Britain is more than just glitz and glam; it’s an opportunity to represent my community and the areas I love,” shares Becks. “The work that many contestants do in their local communities is inspiring, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”
Sustainable Fashion Choices
For the significant portion of the competition, Becks will wear a gown sourced from Cancer Research’s local charity shop. “Danny, who works there, found me the perfect dress,” she explains. “I’m excited to showcase community spirit while supporting cancer research.”
Anticipation for the Competition
“I’m mainly excited to represent my community. However, I’m a bit nervous about the opening dance number,” Becks admits. “With two left feet, I hope viewers will focus on the other contestants!”
Launching the ‘HER STORY’ Campaign
Beyond her role in the pageant, Becks is spearheading the “HER STORY” campaign, which seeks to honor women’s contributions in education. “Many historic figures worked tirelessly to break the glass ceiling yet were unrecognized,” she explains. “My aim is to award posthumous degrees to these trailblazers and create scholarships for future women in education.”
A Call for Change in Academia
“The recent posthumous recognition of the first native New Zealander at Oxford shows how much work remains to be done. It’s essential to celebrate those who contributed greatly yet went unnoticed,” Becks emphasizes.
As Becks Morgan heads to the Miss Great Britain Final, her dedication to community, sustainability, and women’s education shines brightly, making her a compelling contender for the crown.
