Continuing the Yakuza Legacy
Sega is forging ahead with the beloved Yakuza series, as Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has just announced the upcoming release of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties for the Switch 2 and various other platforms. This highly anticipated entry is set to launch on February 12, 2026.
Pre-order Details
During the recently held RGG Summit 2025, fans were treated to exciting news about digital pre-orders, which are already open. Physical versions will follow suit in the coming days, making it easier for fans to get their hands on this must-have title.
A Reimagined Classic
Originally released on the PlayStation 3 in 2009, Yakuza 3 is receiving a fresh coat of paint with modern graphics and enhanced technology. This reimagined edition promises to invigorate the experience by bringing the vibrant setting of Okinawa to life with intense battles, added cutscenes, and minigames bursting with replayability.
Introducing Dark Ties
This edition also introduces Dark Ties, a gripping new storyline featuring Yoshitaka Mine, a character who stands as Kiryu’s rival. Players will follow Mine’s journey from a venture company founder to his rise as a yakuza member after facing personal loss. As Mine seeks a connection to mend his heart, players will witness how his and Kiryu’s lives intertwine.
Gameplay Enhancements
Fans can expect a more enriched gaming experience with enhanced combat systems and narrative depth that tracks both Kiryu’s and Mine’s fates. The updated graphics and mechanics promise to deliver both nostalgia for long-time fans and excitement for newcomers to the series.
Upcoming Yakuza Releases
The announcement of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties arrives on the heels of other recent Yakuza titles—Yakuza Kiwami was launched on the Switch eShop last October, followed by Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut coming soon to Switch 2. More titles, including Yakuza Kiwami 1 & 2, are set for release this November, further expanding the availability of these iconic games.
