Ellie Daniels Crowned Miss Idaho 2023
AMMON — Ellie Daniels, a talented local woman, has been named “Miss Idaho,” earning her a spot in the upcoming “Miss America” competition this August. Her victory is particularly noteworthy as she initially entered the pageant seeking scholarships rather than the crown.
Motivated by Scholarships
As a nursing student, Daniels’ primary motivation to compete in the Miss Idaho pageant was to secure financial support for her education. “My biggest motivator for entering Miss Idaho was the scholarships. Anything to help me pay for my school is amazing,” Daniels shared.
Pageant Experience
This is not Daniels’ first experience with pageants. She previously participated in Distinguished Women in Bonneville County and held the title of “Miss Thunder Ridge” in 2024. With her extensive background in dance and performance, Daniels felt confident on stage, although the on-stage interviews presented new challenges.
Judging Criteria
Contestants in the Miss Idaho pageant were judged on several criteria including a personal interview, a stage question, an evening gown walk, a fitness routine, and talent. Daniels noted, “We’re judged on five aspects, and I found the interviews to be an important part despite being less familiar to me.”
Community Service Project
In addition to the competition, contestants were encouraged to initiate a community service project. For Daniels, her project, titled “The Greatest Gift,” focuses on supporting mothers and enhancing their mental health. “The project aims to provide resources and ensure mothers feel seen and supported,” she explained.
Expanding Her Platform
What began as a project during the Miss Thunder Ridge competition has now grown with Daniels’ title as Miss Idaho. She expresses a strong desire to extend her outreach, stating, “As I travel to different areas, I want to reach as many women as I can and make a positive impact wherever I go.”
A Community of Friendship
Reflecting on her experience, Daniels found the competition to be a nurturing environment. “I feel like I left there with some of my best friends, even though I had just met some of them. It was uplifting to be in a space where we could cheer each other on,” she said.
Being a Role Model
While her initial goal was to win a scholarship, Daniels emphasizes the importance of her new role as a positive influence. “I’m able to be a role model for kids and people who look up to me, representing the message of standing up for oneself and pursuing dreams. That’s invaluable,” she concluded.
