Notably, she observed how these fashionable individuals manage daily essentials, opting to stash their phones and other necessities within the folds of their elegantly wrapped garments or in spacious pockets.

Wang also took note of the creative ways Bhutanese men blend traditional clothing with modern pieces such as T-shirts and sneakers. This mix of styles sparked her inspiration, leading her to incorporate similar elements in her latest collection, emphasizing a seamless fusion of heritage and contemporary fashion.
A Soothing Spring Collection
In her spring menswear collection, Wang channels the tranquil aesthetic she encountered in Bhutan. Using thick linens with a textured appearance reminiscent of burlap for suits, flowing rayon for relaxed trousers and tegos—loose jackets worn under the gho—she creates stylishly comfortable outfits. The collection also features wax-coated drill utility vests equipped with numerous pockets, perfect for modern adventurers.
Building a Menswear Legacy
Based in Shanghai, Uma Wang has quietly crafted a niche in menswear over the last decade. With a growing list of approximately 80 wholesale clients, menswear now constitutes about 20% of her business, showcasing her commitment to expanding this segment with innovative designs.
A Bold Presentation in Milan
For the first time, Wang hosted a presentation at her newly established Milan store. With rustic hardwood floors and industrial shelving, the venue provided the perfect backdrop for showcasing her latest creations to retailers and fashion editors, thereby elevating her menswear line’s profile.

In her designs, Wang embraces imperfections, favoring a unique approach to textiles. One standout piece features a loose rayon fabric with stitched linen strips that create an intentionally rumpled look.
