Exciting News: CODE VEIN II Announced after Six Years!

After an extended wait of six years, Bandai Namco Entertainment thrilled fans at Summer Game Fest by unveiling CODE VEIN II. During a recent media event, we had the privilege of interviewing Producer Keita Iizuka, who shared insights about this highly anticipated sequel to the beloved anime-styled souls-like game that captivated audiences in 2019.

    A Fresh Narrative and Setting

Unlike many sequels that build directly on their predecessors, CODE VEIN II presents a completely new narrative. “It’s actually a new story, so it’s not related to the previous CODE VEIN,” explained Iizuka. This gives newcomers the opportunity to jump right in without prior knowledge, while veterans can enjoy a fresh experience.

The Dark World of CODE VEIN II

The story unfolds in a world ravaged by a cataclysmic event called the Resurgence, which has unleashed vampires known as Revenants. Players will assume the role of a Revenant hunter, empowered by an implanted heart that grants vampire abilities, along with a formidable vampire companion, Lou MagMell. Together, they must navigate this perilous world to thwart impending destruction.

    Innovative Time-Travel Mechanics

A standout feature of this installment is its intriguing time-travel mechanic. Iizuka elaborated, “We aim to utilize this function to explore the rich history of vampires, shedding light on their past and its impact on the present.” This creative storytelling approach helps to deepen the player’s connection with the vampire lore.

    Combat Improvements and Returning Features

Combat remains a challenging yet accessible element of CODE VEIN II. The incorporation of a new “Vampiric Action” system enhances the combat experience by allowing players to drain enemy blood as a resource for special abilities. While a parry system is included, Iizuka emphasized, “This game focuses more on character customization, allowing for unique combat styles.”

    Enhanced Character Creation

One of CODE VEIN’s most praised features—its expansive character creation system—returns in a significantly upgraded form. “The customization in CODE VEIN II will be a leveled-up version, featuring more parts and styles,” Iizuka highlighted, ensuring a user-friendly experience for players to craft unique characters with ease.

    Lessons Learned Over Six Years

Throughout the six-year development journey, the team has prioritized player feedback to enhance gameplay. Iizuka shared, “The Buddy system received a positive response, and we’re implementing more interactions and improved designs based on player suggestions.” The goal is to cater to both seasoned players and those new to the souls-like genre.

Conclusion: What’s Next for CODE VEIN II

CODE VEIN II not only marks a return to form for the series but also introduces a bold new direction with its deep vampire mythology and innovative time mechanics. While a release date has yet to be announced, the unveiling at Summer Game Fest has set the stage for an anticipated journey into the haunting world of vampires and hunters.
