Owaisi’s Strong Stance on Terrorism and India-Pakistan Relations in Bahrain
In a recent interaction in Manama, Bahrain, Asaduddin Owaisi, Member of Parliament from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), labeled Pakistan a “failed state” while representing an all-party delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda. Owaisi’s remarks were aimed at shedding light on the ongoing threat posed to India by terrorism, which he attributes to Pakistan’s actions.
Highlighting India’s Security Challenges
During the event, Owaisi explained that the Indian government had sent the delegation to inform international leaders about the persistent threats India faces. “Unfortunately, we have lost so many innocent lives,” he lamented. He emphasized that the core of this issue continues to stem from Pakistan, stating that without its cessation of support for terrorist groups, the problem will remain unresolved.
A Call for Strengthened Defense
Owaisi asserted that the Indian government is committed to safeguarding every citizen’s life. He warned, “Next time you (Pakistan) take up this misadventure, it will be beyond what you expect.” This statement underscores India’s resolve to respond decisively to any aggressive actions.
Reflecting on Human Tragedies of Terrorism
Recalling the tragic Pahalgam attack that resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists, Owaisi highlighted the profound human cost of terrorism. He recounted harrowing stories of newlywed women who became widows within days, stressing the need for empathy when discussing the impacts of such violence.
India’s Defensive Capabilities
Owaisi expressed confidence in India’s military capabilities, mentioning the successful interception of threats from Pakistan. “Our air defense systems effectively neutralized everything launched by a failed state like Pakistan,” he stated, reiterating the nation’s preparedness to defend against external threats.
International Cooperation Against Terrorism
In his address, Owaisi underscored the importance of international collaboration to combat terror financing. He called on the Bahrain government to back initiatives aimed at placing Pakistan back on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) gray list, highlighting that funds from Pakistan have been used to support terror activities.
A Unified Stance for National Integrity
Owaisi emphasized that despite political differences, there is a collective agreement within India regarding national integrity. “It is high time our neighboring country understands this,” he urged, expressing hope for Bahrain’s support in curbing terrorism and finance related to it.
The Delegation’s Objective
The delegation, which includes notable MPs from various parties, is on a mission to inform global partners about India’s response to the recent Pahalgam attack and address broader concerns related to cross-border terrorism. Engaging with leaders in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria, the multi-party group is focused on countering misinformation and promoting India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.
