Kesineni Nani Challenges TDP Leadership Over Alleged Liquor Scam
Former Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas, popularly known as Nani, has directed critical comments at his brother Kesineni Shivanath, also known as Chinni, as well as the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. This confrontational stance comes in light of the ongoing investigations into an alleged liquor scam that occurred during the tenure of the YSR Congress Party.
Open Letter to Chief Minister Naidu
In a publicly shared open letter on social media, Nani highlighted a letter written by Chinni to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), requesting the agency to take over the probe into the liquor scam. Nani expressed his concern over his brother’s lack of faith in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) crafted by Naidu to investigate the scandal.
Questions of Integrity and Confidence
Nani voiced his alarm at the implications of Chinni’s request, stating, “What is deeply troubling is that Kesineni Sivanath, an MP from your own party, officially doubts the SIT’s credibility. This raises questions about the integrity of the ongoing investigation.” Such comments not only point fingers at party loyalty but also hint at broader issues regarding transparency in governance.
Allegations Against the Sitting MP
The controversy deepens with allegations that Chinni may have been involved in financial transactions related to the liquor scam through close associate Sri Raj Kasireddy. Whistleblower accounts and media reports have brought these serious claims to the surface, further complicating the political landscape.
Need for Independent Investigation
Nani stressed that the scenario, where a sitting MP suspected of involvement simultaneously seeks an investigation and questions the SIT’s integrity, undermines public trust. “In such a sensitive matter, the only way to ensure an impartial investigation is through an independent inquiry by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED),” he stated.
Call for Accountability
Bringing the focus back to public interest, Nani urged Naidu to promptly transfer the case to the CBI and ED. Nani emphasized that every individual implicated, regardless of their political stature, must be held accountable. “The people of Andhra Pradesh deserve full transparency and accountability,” he remarked.
A Plea for Action
Wrapping up his letter, Nani expressed his expectation that Naidu would act decisively in the larger interest of the public. “I trust that you will take the necessary action to uphold the truth,” Nani concluded, highlighting the urgency for clear action against corruption.
