For many, hair is more than just a part of our appearance; it’s a reflection of identity and confidence. Growing up, my Black mother instilled in me a crucial beauty rule: “Never leave the house with your hair undone.” This mantra resonated deeply throughout my life, often dictating my mood based on the state of my hair. With daily workouts, maintaining sleek hair became a challenge. College days allowed for a quick hat cover-up, but as I transitioned to a professional environment, I grew hesitant to be labeled as “the hat girl.”
Exploring New Styling Options
My hair journey led me through numerous styles—from weaves to protective styles—until I finally considered the wig option. However, past experiences left me feeling dissatisfied. Wigs often appeared too artificial, lacked breathability, and just didn’t look natural. I vowed to forgo wigs altogether until I discovered Parfait, a company specializing in AI-powered human wigs that promised a more tailored fit and look.
AI Customization Process
Parfait’s unique approach intrigued me: the ability to customize a wig using AI technology. The process began with answering a series of questions about my desired hair length, texture, and whether I preferred a glued or glueless application. To my delight, the lace blended seamlessly with my skin tone, and although it was slightly big, adjustments were straightforward with a clasp at the back. For the final touches, I visited an Ulta salon where a stylist braided my hair and fitted the wig, ensuring it looked perfectly natural. Unlike any wig I previously owned, this one looked as if the hair was growing from my scalp.
