Arvest Bank Temporarily Disables Online Banking Services
Fayetteville, Ark. — Arvest Bank announced the temporary suspension of some online and mobile banking services after a glitch caused customers to view account information unrelated to their accounts. The issue arose during routine system updates on Thursday evening, as detailed by Tara Muck, a spokesperson for the bank.
Restoration of Services
The bank was able to restore its online banking services before 4 p.m. on Friday. Customers were informed of the situation, and steps were taken swiftly to rectify the issue.
Clarification on Account Information
In an earlier report, it was suggested that customers had seen other individuals’ account information. Muck clarified this statement: “We are not saying that customers saw other people’s account information. The information they saw was just not related to their account.”
Immediate Response to the Issue
Muck emphasized that the issue was promptly identified by the bank’s technical teams. They made the decision to temporarily disable certain online functions while implementing corrective measures. “This issue is not related to a cyber incident or unauthorized access to our systems,” she stated in her communications.
Impact on Customers
During the temporary disruption, many Arvest Bank customers experienced difficulties accessing their accounts through online banking and the Arvest Go mobile app. However, Muck reassured customers that in-person banking services remained fully operational at all branches.
Branch Availability and Customer Support
Arvest Bank operates 229 locations across Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas, as noted on the FDIC website. Customers were encouraged to visit local branches or ATMs for their banking needs during the online service interruption.
